Anyone having any information about the Iberostar Lindo Rivera Maya from the evacuation list please email me. I have not been able to find my brother’s hotel on any of the list.
I am beyond slightly crazy…

Absolutely, Blair. Teresa: It sounds like your brother was more among locals, a good thing, than the big chain hotels. They are undoubtedly in the Convention Center having been evacuated early. The Center may have sustained some damage to roof and they may have been moved. The airport, phones, and most other things are scheduled to be open on Tuesday, maybe sooner. Everyone will have to be patient. By all accounts there has been some sporadic looting and 12 arrests for it, all workers from Vera Cruz -- no reflection on the state. Just, don't worry. By now you've received my emails. If you speak to him on the phone, reassure him and his wife. It's supposed to be a very hot day on Monday. They need to be patient, and if they speak any Spanish at all, tell them to use it, the more they communicate with the locals from the region, the better. This is not Mexico City, and some of that is an exageration, at worst. They can trust the Yucatec Mayan people who are known for their reserved but decent natures -- this being the reason there are so many out-of-state workers, the average person from the area has no desire to work in the ("evil") tourist industry. They stay home close to their own families and businesses. imho, of course. Don't worry. They'll be home soon. The worst of it will be other tourists and not fellow travelers.
